Traffic Marshal Course

Accidents caused by vehicle movement are one of the leading risks on construction sites. Traffic Marshals (also known as Banksmen) play a critical role in preventing these incidents. They are responsible for guiding, directing, and supervising vehicle movements to keep workers, pedestrians, and drivers safe.

This course provides you with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to become a competent Traffic Marshal on UK construction sites.

• Traffic Marshals act as the driver’s second pair of eyes, helping prevent collisions
• Essential for meeting legal duties under HSE regulations for safe vehicle movement on site

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Prevent Accidents: Understand how to reduce risks through effective planning and traffic control
• Control Vehicle Movements: Manage traffic flow safely and efficiently on-site
• Communicate Clearly: Use approved hand signals and verbal communication to guide drivers
• Assign Responsibilities: Know the roles and duties of marshals and drivers during loading/unloading

  • Valid for 3 years from the date of issue
